The Government of the Canary Islands has declared a rain pre-alert for Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife starting from 3:00 PM today, Friday, October 9.

The General Directorate of Emergencies activated the measure based on information from the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
The alert covers the islands of Lanzarote, La Graciosa, and Fuerteventura, as well as the northern slopes of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
Strong and scattered showers are expected, which may be accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall intensities could reach and exceed 15 millimeters per hour, especially during the afternoon and evening.
Instability is decreasing towards the west, making intense rainfall more probable in the islands of Lanzarote, La Graciosa, and Fuerteventura, and less predictable in the north of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
