A detailed gender analysis reveals a slight rise in female unemployment, with 250 more women out of work than in July, while male unemployment remained practically stable, with an increase of only 41 men. Unemployment figures by age group also showed minimal variations. Among those under 25 years old, there was an increase of 136 people, while for those over 50, unemployment figures remained similar to the previous month.
By economic sectors, unemployment saw a slight uptick in most, with the exception of agriculture. The number of people seeking their first job decreased, although the drop was less than one percentage point.
Variations in registered unemployment by island in August were also of small magnitude. A decrease was observed in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, while the remaining islands experienced a slight increase.
