A new storm has prompted weather alerts across the Canary Islands, bringing strong winds, rainfall, and a notable drop in temperatures throughout the archipelago.

Since the early hours of Friday, April 10, 2026, the Canary Islands archipelago has experienced a significant deterioration in weather conditions. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued yellow warnings for wind and coastal phenomena, which remain active from midday across all islands.
Wind gusts have been particularly intense, reaching 72 kilometers per hour in La Dehesa, El Hierro. These adverse conditions already led to the cancellation of nine flights and the diversion of fourteen across five island airports on Thursday.
Rainfall, though of weak to moderate intensity, has been concentrated mainly in the eastern islands, such as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. In Haría (Lanzarote), 5.8 liters per square meter were recorded by 7:00 AM, while in La Graciosa and La Oliva (Fuerteventura), accumulations were 3.2 and 2.6 liters, respectively. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, rain has been felt in areas like El Sebadal, Triana, and Teror.
In addition to wind and rain, temperatures have dropped considerably. The Canary Islands have registered some of the lowest temperatures in the country, with 2.5 degrees below zero in Izaña (Tenerife) and one degree below zero in Roque de Los Muchachos (La Palma). In Gran Canaria, San Mateo and Tejeda woke up to minimums of 2.9 and 3.9 degrees, respectively.
Although in some areas, such as Arrecife (Lanzarote), the sun has appeared after morning showers, authorities recommend maintaining caution due to the possibility of wind and rain returning at any moment.
