Lanzarote island will host the inaugural edition of the Unique Trail Lanzarote by Joma on October 17th, a trail running race set to be the island's only ultra-distance event.

The competition aims to merge sport, nature, and active tourism, traversing emblematic locations such as La Geria, Castillo de Santa Bárbara, and the Mirador del Río. Participants will face terrains of volcanoes, solidified lava, and jable (volcanic sand), solidifying the event as a unique fixture on the island's sports calendar.
Unique Trail Lanzarote by Joma will feature four distances to cater to various experience levels: the 67K Ultra (2,870m positive elevation gain) from La Geria to the Mirador del Río; the 46K Marathon (2,082m positive elevation gain) starting from San Bartolomé; the 23K Half Marathon (1,202m positive elevation gain) commencing at Peñas del Chache; and the 12K Starter or "Manriqueña" (641m positive elevation gain) from Haría.
The course combines solidified lava, volcanic trails, arid tracks, and coastal sections exposed to the wind, demanding precise footing, effective effort management, and adaptation to the climate from runners. The event also includes the Kinder Trail on Friday, October 16th, featuring free children's races.
Race direction is managed by Joel Delgado and Juan Antonio Carreño "Chico", who aspire to make Unique Trail Lanzarote an international benchmark. The event will award cash prizes to the top three finishers in each distance, as well as recognizing the first local resident.
