The arrest took place in April, carried out by the Civil Guard from the Main Post of Costa Teguise, on the island of Lanzarote. The woman was subject to a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by Slovakia, which requested her search and detention for a property crime.
Earlier this year, the Civil Guard received information through external sources that a Slovakian woman might be on the island of Lanzarote and was wanted by Slovakia for allegedly impersonating identities to contract bank loans and obtain substantial economic benefits.
In total, she is accused of 58 acts classified as fraud, amounting to a total of 240,269 euros. For these offenses, the detainee could face an eight-year prison sentence, as reported by the Civil Guard.
After verifying the facts, agents initiated an investigation, as the woman's residence on the island was unknown. During the investigation, it was also discovered that the woman had other pending judicial claims in Spain, specifically two arrest warrants and a search for her address and whereabouts for fraud, issued by the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Arrecife.
Finally, after several months of work, the agents managed to obtain the woman's residential location. An operation was then formed by agents assigned to the investigation area of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, leading to her location and arrest.
The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Audiencia Nacional, which is the competent body for European Arrest Warrants. Specifically, the Instruction Section of the Central Court of First Instance No. 5 of Madrid has issued the corresponding precautionary measures.
