The town of Agaete is preparing to host thousands of people for the highly anticipated festive marathon of Diana, Rama, and Retreta, marking the eve of the Las Nieves festivities. The celebration, which will last throughout the day, will feature the participation of the musical bands Agaete, Guayedra, and La Clandestina.
The first event, the Diana, will begin at 05:00 AM at the doors of the City Hall. Following the signal of a firecracker, the town's three bands will awaken the residents with their music, initiating the festive day.
Subsequently, at 10:00 AM, the emblematic Bajada de la Rama (Descent of the Branch) will take place. The meeting point will be the side of the church of La Concepción, from where thousands of participants will recreate the pre-Hispanic ritual of invoking rain by striking the sea with branches. The bands will take turns accompanying the procession to the beach, with the expectation of reaching the hermitage of Las Nieves around 6:00 PM.
For those who still have energy, the third event will be the Retreta (Parade), scheduled for 10:00 PM from the same side of the church. On this occasion, the bands Guayedra and Agaete will provide the music for this final part of the celebration.
