Preparation is essential for the Rally Islas Canarias, as the demanding asphalt and the track winding between cliffs and barriers leave no room for error. Therefore, most teams take advantage of the organized tests to adjust their car's setup.
The work primarily focuses on suspensions and their interaction with the mandatory Hankook tires for this event. The organizers only provide one semi-soft and one hard compound, with the latter having posed challenges in previous races due to its difficulty in reaching optimal temperature.
Engineers encourage drivers to push the limits during these test runs, allowing for precise conclusions to be drawn for fine-tuning. While few teams skip these preliminary tests, the higher-category Rally1 vehicles typically do not participate in tests outside Europe due to budget constraints.
For this reason, Rally2 vehicles are the main participants in these training sessions, as they are able to conduct pre-rally tests. Activity in Ayagaures and Gáldar has been intense, with several drivers showcasing their skills and the evolution of their setups.
