The main week of the Virgen 2026 festivities in Guía is nearing its end with notable events. This Thursday, August 13th, the traditional Float Parade will take place, themed this year around "The History of the Olympic Games." It will wind through the historic center with music, dance, and surprises. The parade will feature the complete Papagüevos, music bands, majorettes, and dancers from the Palas-Atenea Rhythmic Gymnastics Club. The event starts at 10:00 PM and will be live-streamed on the City Council's social media and local media outlets.
Following the parade, the night will continue with a concert by singer Aduén Amaya in the city's Plaza Grande. On Friday, August 14th, the eve of the main festival day, the concert by Coti will take place, scheduled for around 10:00 PM in the same square. Afterwards, a late-night party featuring orchestras Star Music and Furia Joven, along with DJ Promaster and DJ Airam Vega, will keep the celebration going until dawn.
As a new feature this year, fireworks have been canceled to offer more inclusive and respectful festivities for sensitive individuals and animals. In their place, a grand light and sound show will be presented, a videomapping projection on the facade of the Church. This audiovisual experience will explore the municipality's identity, its history, heritage, and how its citizens experience Guía, aiming to connect the past, present, and future.
Due to the expected large turnout, Global will reinforce bus services. Additional trips for Line 100 from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Guía will run on Friday the 14th at 10:15 PM, 10:45 PM, 11:15 PM, and 11:45 PM. Additionally, Line 105 will have reinforced services in the early morning of Friday to Saturday from the capital to Guía at 12:00 AM, 12:30 AM, 1:00 AM, and 1:30 AM. For the return journey from Guía to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Line 105 will offer services at 12:00 AM, 12:30 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:30 AM, 2:00 AM, 3:00 AM, 4:00 AM, 4:30 AM, 5:00 AM, and 5:30 AM.
