The upcoming edition, scheduled from February 22nd to 28th, expands its calendar to offer a full week of competition and adventure. The participation boasts a strong international character, gathering runners from 68 nationalities. Notably, France has nearly 300 participants, followed by the United Kingdom (over 250), and Germany and Italy (approaching 200). Over 40% of registrants are from abroad, and 65% come from outside the province of Las Palmas. Female participation currently stands at 35%.
The 2027 program introduces two new features: Stages, a new four-day competition format that will include the Open Agáldar, Kilómetro Vertical El Gigante, Promo, and Advanced modalities, traversing different landscapes of the island. The other novelty is the Open Agáldar, a 21.4-kilometer race with 613 meters of positive elevation gain, taking place on Tuesday, February 23rd, starting from San José de Caideros and extending the event to the municipality of Gáldar.
The competitive calendar kicks off on Tuesday, February 23rd, with the Open Agáldar, followed on Wednesday, February 24th, by the Kilómetro Vertical El Gigante. Thursday, February 25th, will feature the Half and Promo races. Friday, February 26th, will see one of the central moments with the Marathon race in the morning and the iconic Classic starting at midnight from Playa de Las Canteras, both integrated into the international World Trail Majors circuit. On Saturday, February 27th, the Advanced, Short, and Family modalities will depart from the municipality of Teror, completing a week of competition with various formats, from vertical challenges to ultra-distance races.
The runners' response has led to the sell-out of bibs for the Promo, Open Agáldar, and Marathon modalities, which now have waiting lists. Registrations remain open for the other distances.
The growth in participation aligns with the organization's commitment to sustainability. The 2027 edition will maintain the overall number of slots and even reduce capacity in some modalities, advancing towards a more responsible model for the territory. Measures include optimized mobility, energy efficiency, promotion of good practices among participants, suppliers, and the public, and registration in the Canary Islands Carbon Footprint Registry.
The North Face Transgrancanaria, organized by Arista Eventos, is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Institute of Sports), the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (through the Municipal Institute of Sports), and the city councils of Gáldar, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Teror, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, and Tejeda. It also receives support from The North Face, Hospitales Universitarios San Roque, Lopesan Hotel Group, ExpoMeloneras, 226ERS, Fred. Olsen Express, Sonocom Audiovisuales, and Aguas de Teror.
