The upcoming 2027 Jacobean Year serves as a prelude to the 544th Gáldar Major Santiago Festivals, for which the official poster has now been unveiled. The artwork, created by local designer Reinaldo Sosa, centers its symbolism on the pilgrimage route and the municipality's rich heritage.
The design depicts two pilgrims, equipped with backpacks and walking sticks, on their journey from the iconic Maspalomas Lighthouse to the sanctuary of Santiago de los Caballeros de Gáldar, which is prominently featured as the main element. The artwork also integrates elements of the Canarian natural landscape, such as laurel leaves, the golden sand, lush green vegetation, and reddish earth tones, reflecting the island's diverse scenery.
Employing a schematic style with clean, direct lines, the poster aims to evoke the spirituality and intimate emotions of the pilgrim, highlighting the scenic and heritage richness that characterizes the Santiago de Gran Canaria route. Tradition, religious symbolism, and the imminent celebration of the 2027 Jacobean Holy Year converge to announce the festivities in honor of Saint James the Apostle.
The Gáldar City Council is preparing a special program for these festivals, which will include numerous proposals and novelties. Among the highlighted dates are a concert by the duo Camela on July 26th and the premiere of the Gáldar Urban Fest, featuring artists such as Canarian artist Danny Romero, the Argentine duo Vius, and Puerto Rican artist De la Rose.
Tickets for both events are already available on the Gáldar City Council's website. Tickets for Camela's concert are priced at 15 euros for residents and 20 euros for non-residents, while tickets for the Gáldar Urban Fest are available for 18.75 euros for Gáldar residents and 25 euros for non-residents.
