The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has launched a series of free traditional dance workshops taking place throughout May in Puerto del Rosario and Gran Tarajal.

Training sessions are held on Mondays and Wednesdays in Puerto del Rosario, next to the municipal Tourism office, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are hosted at Plaza Tran Tran in Gran Tarajal. All classes run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and do not require prior registration.
The workshops are led by A.F. Maxorata, guiding participants through the steps, figures, and basic techniques of island folklore. The initiative aims to bring traditional culture closer to the public and prepare attendees for the Gran Baile de Taifas, scheduled for May 29th.

Traditional dance represents one of the greatest expressions of the islands' identity and folklore, making its preservation and dissemination among the population essential.

The 2026 Gran Baile de Taifas will take place at the fairgrounds in Puerto del Rosario. Organizers remind attendees that wearing traditional attire is mandatory to participate in the event, which will also honor those dedicated to preserving the historical clothing of Canarias.
