New fish market in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura.

The capital of Fuerteventura, Puerto del Rosario, will soon have a definitive fishing market at the pier, near the slipway, after an agreement between the City Council, the Port Authority of Las Palmas, and the Island Council of Fuerteventura.

The decision regarding the location of the new fishing market was made during a meeting held at the council offices. Attendees included the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera; the Councilor for the Primary Sector, David de León; the director of the Port Authority, Fran Trujillo; the delegate in Fuerteventura, Gustavo C. Quintero; the president Lola García; and several professional fishermen from the municipality, associated with the fishing guild of Corralejo.
This agreement marks an unprecedented milestone, as it will be the first time the municipality has professional and permanent facilities to enhance artisanal and multipurpose fishing. The new infrastructure, developed in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto del Rosario and the Port Authority of Las Palmas, aims to diversify the local economy and consolidate the primary sector as a driver of wealth and employment creation.
The project entails the construction of a building that will include spaces for fish reception, weighing, handling, conservation, traceability, and first sale. The facility will feature a market and sales hall, warehouse, offices, restrooms, as well as cold and freezer storage rooms.

"Today is a key day for the future of our municipality. For the first time, the fishermen of Puerto del Rosario will have dignified and definitive facilities that value their work and their trade."
