The Gran Baile de Taifas filled the fairgrounds of Puerto del Rosario this Friday, attracting approximately 9,000 attendees. The day was characterized by a strong family atmosphere, with traditional Canarian music and gastronomy taking center stage.
During the celebration, a well-deserved tribute was paid to those who strive to preserve traditional clothing. A jury of experts in traditional attire conducted this recognition, as reported by the Cabildo majorero.
The Insular School of Music, with campuses in Valles de Ortega and La Oliva, opened the ceremony with musical performances. Following this, the Fuerteventura folk group Tababaire and El Callao presented an extensive repertoire of traditional music and popular genres.
The event also featured participation from groups from other islands, including the parranda El Golpito from Lanzarote, Los Muchachos from Tenerife, and El Alpiste from Gran Canaria, who entertained the audience with a selection of Canarian and Latin American popular music.
The Island Corporation, through the Department of Culture and its various departments, expressed gratitude for the collaboration of different areas of the Cabildo and the Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario in organizing this significant Canary Islands Day event.
Furthermore, appreciation was extended to all visitors, collectives, musical groups, and the people of Fuerteventura for their active participation and for respecting traditional attire, a symbol of Canarian identity.
