The Department of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility, through the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, has awarded the service for control and monitoring during the execution of the works on the Puerto del Rosario-Morro Jable road. The affected section runs from the Airport to the Pozo Negro Crossing, in Fuerteventura, with a total contract value of 3,727,571.41 euros, including IGIC.
The purpose of this contract is to ensure adequate monitoring of the work. The awarded Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) consists of Sociedad de Ingeniería, Servicios del Territorio y Medio Ambiente, S.A.; Jaraba Ingenieros Urbanistas, S.L.P.; and Evalúa Soluciones Ambientales, S.L.
The project encompasses the execution of the Airport–Pozo Negro Crossing section of the Puerto del Rosario–Morro Jable road. It will include new interchanges to improve connectivity with roads FV-2, FV-413, and FV-50, thereby optimizing access to the airport and strategic areas such as Caleta de Fuste and various urban and rural centers in the municipality of Antigua.
Among the notable singular works are the construction of an approximately 1.2-kilometer-long tunnel, complemented by false tunnels at its entrances and exits, and a 190-meter viaduct over the La Torre ravine. The project also includes the execution of various structures associated with the interchanges, an overpass, and several underpasses to ensure the continuity of existing paths and accesses.
Furthermore, the project incorporates measures aimed at the energy sustainability of the infrastructure through the installation of photovoltaic systems designed to cover the total electricity demand for lighting in both the interchanges and the tunnel. Thanks to this solution, the infrastructure will be energetically self-sufficient in its operation, contributing to emission reduction and Canary Islands' decarbonization goals.
