The Government of the Canary Islands has authorized multi-year spending of 70,011,128 euros for the contracting of works for the new Judicial Building in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura. The construction, with a execution period of four years, aims to centralize judicial bodies in a single headquarters.

The Government of the Canary Islands gave the green light this Monday to the multi-year spending allocated to the contracting of works for the new Judicial Building in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura. The investment amounts to 70,011,128 euros and will be processed in advance. The planned execution period for the work is four years, starting from its commencement once the contract is awarded.
This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, led by Nieves Lady Barreto, is part of the 2nd phase of the Infrastructure Plan for the Administration of Justice in the Canary Islands 2017-2031. This plan aims to rationalize and optimize the existing judicial infrastructures in the archipelago.
The initiative responds to the high dispersion of judicial bodies in Puerto del Rosario, which are currently spread across four different headquarters. This fragmentation hinders the functioning of the Administration of Justice and citizen service, in addition to presenting limitations for the continuity of the local rental system due to the scarcity of adequate infrastructures.
The new judicial building will concentrate all judicial bodies of the Judicial District of Puerto del Rosario in a single headquarters, which will allow for the improvement and modernization of the Administration of Justice, increasing its quality, efficiency, and effectiveness in the Canary Islands.
The execution project is in its final review phase. The advance processing by the Ministry of the Presidency during the 2026 fiscal year will allow the works for the new Palace of Justice to begin as soon as possible.
