The Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Housing Institute (ICAVI), has taken the first step towards contracting the works aimed at improving the energy efficiency of these homes. The action is part of Program 1 for neighborhood-level rehabilitation, financed by European Next Generation EU funds.
The main objective of this intervention is to enhance the energy efficiency of the buildings, reduce non-renewable primary energy consumption, and consequently contribute to better living conditions for the residents.
These 50 homes in Fabelo are part of a joint expediente amounting to 2,378,453.67 euros (excluding IGIC). This larger contract also includes actions on another 40 homes in the La Oliva II group, in the municipality of La Oliva, and 10 homes in Valle Santa Inés, in Betancuria. In total, energy improvements are planned for 100 public homes in Fuerteventura, distributed across three lots.
