The Vallehermoso City Council, in collaboration with the Island Council of La Gomera, has intensified emergency efforts to mitigate the effects of storm Therese, which caused severe landslides and damage in the municipality.

Operations are focused on clearing debris, restoring access, and repairing affected infrastructure in various areas of the municipality. Storm Therese led to significant incidents, including landslides that left areas isolated and roads obstructed, requiring a rapid response to ensure safety and the restoration of damaged spaces.
The persistence of adverse weather phenomena and the ongoing risk of new landslides necessitate extreme caution in affected areas. In this regard, the restoration of the damaged track in the bed of the Vallehermoso ravine has been agreed upon, with work already underway by the company responsible for the channelization project.

"We are acting with maximum speed to respond to the magnitude of the damage, restore connectivity in affected areas, and guarantee the safety of residents."

Emiliano Coello · Mayor of Vallehermoso
In the coming days, new emergency works will be awarded to ensure the safety of people in different parts of the municipality, addressing the detected incidents. The City Council continues to work in a coordinated manner to restore normalcy and minimize the risks arising from this situation.
