The Vallehermoso City Council participated this Wednesday, May 7, in the first edition of the Regional Forum for Climate Action in the Municipalities of the Canary Islands, a key event to discuss climate change challenges and foster coordination among local administrations in the archipelago.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, brought together municipal representatives, institutional officials, and specialized technical personnel in ecological transition and sustainability. The day focused on the competencies, tools, and opportunities available to municipalities in the current climate context.
A representative from the Vallehermoso City Council attended this inaugural edition, sharing space with delegates from various islands. The main objective was the exchange of experiences and the coordination of local policies aimed at climate action.
The institutional opening featured the participation of the technical general secretary of Ecological Transition and Energy, the vice-counselor of Ecological Transition, the president of the FECAM, and the counselor of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The forum's program addressed crucial topics such as current climate action challenges in the Canary Islands, the adaptation of municipalities to new environmental scenarios, and the support tools available to local administrations for developing climate plans and strategies.
Furthermore, working groups were organized to analyze existing barriers to municipal climate action, the need to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, and the objectives set within the Local Climate Action Program. Vallehermoso's participation in this forum underscores its commitment to sustainability, territorial adaptation, and the promotion of resilience and environmental planning actions at the local level.
