This initiative by the Vallehermoso City Council primarily seeks to bolster safety along the municipality's coastline by integrating advanced technology for rapid intervention in aquatic risk situations. This action is crucial in natural areas lacking permanent surveillance, enabling any individual to act immediately while awaiting the arrival of emergency services.
The system is structured around an iCase emergency totem, made of stainless steel and equipped with 4G connectivity, a solar panel, and an autonomous battery. This totem houses the ready-to-use OneUP rescue devices. Breaking the protective glass activates an acoustic and visual alarm, and the system places an emergency call, sending alerts to pre-programmed numbers. The OneUP devices automatically activate upon contact with water, providing immediate buoyancy and facilitating assistance until specialized teams arrive.
“"The implementation of these types of solutions directly impacts the reduction of reaction times, a key element in these situations, where the first few minutes are decisive."
The effectiveness of these devices has been demonstrated in recent experiences, where immediate intervention from the immediate surroundings has led to successful rescues. In addition to coastal installations, the Vallehermoso City Council is considering expanding this safety network by distributing OneUP devices among local groups capable of acting as first responders in emergencies, especially in areas near bathing zones and high-risk locations, thereby extending coverage and minimizing response times to any incident.
With this initiative, the Vallehermoso City Council continues to advance in improving the safety of its coastal areas, incorporating innovative tools that enhance protection for both residents and visitors, contributing to a safer use of the municipal coastline.
