A section of the Risco de Famara cliffside, located in the municipality of Haría, has collapsed and fallen into the sea, dragging rocks and dust in a hard-to-reach area.

The incident occurred this Tuesday around 13:00 hours on Montaña de Gayo, within the Risco de Famara. According to sources from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the landslide spans approximately 25 meters wide.
The landslip, which took place about 40 meters from the summit, carried a significant amount of rocks and dust. Despite being an area with difficult access and low traffic, the event has affected the Camino de Los Caleteros.
Emergency teams, including firefighters from La Graciosa, personnel from the Environment Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and the Local Police of Haría, are currently inspecting the affected area to assess the situation and potential risks.
The main hypothesis regarding the cause of this landslide is soil erosion, brought about by the intense and continuous rainfall recorded during the past winter on the island.
