The police intervention began when the driver of a car ignored a preventive security checkpoint at the roundabout of the LZ-402 and sped away. During the evasion, the vehicle entered the urban area of Famara, performing reckless maneuvers that posed a clear risk to pedestrians and residents.
Thanks to the coordinated action of the officers, the car was intercepted and the driver subdued before any personal injuries occurred. The Local Police councilman, Ginés González, highlighted the officers' speed and effectiveness in neutralizing a situation that could have had more serious consequences.
“"The speed and effectiveness of the officers allowed us to neutralize a situation that could have had much more serious consequences for the citizens. From the Council, we continue to reinforce preventive presence and police coordination, especially during busy periods like the Famara festivities."
After the interception, officers confirmed that the vehicle was registered as stolen in police databases. Furthermore, it was found that the driver lacked a driving license and had previous police records related to property crimes.
Formal proceedings have been initiated for alleged offenses against road safety (reckless driving and driving without a license), disobedience to authority, and motor vehicle theft or unauthorized use. The detainee will be brought before the competent judicial authority.
