The celebrations, set to continue until July 28, were officially inaugurated last night with the speech, an event deeply intertwined with the history, identity, and traditions of La Graciosa.
Before numerous residents and visitors, the speaker, María Elena González Vega, shared an emotional journey through her personal and professional experiences linked to the island, emphasizing the role of education, roots, and the commitment of those who have contributed to its development and the preservation of its customs.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, thanked González Vega for her role as speaker and highlighted 'El Carmen' as one of the most significant celebrations for La Graciosa, reinforcing the sense of belonging and keeping the island's essential traditions alive.
