The meeting focused on the support of the Government of the Canary Islands for the Municipal Technical Office of Teguise, as well as various matters related to sanitation, coastline, and accessibility in the municipality and on La Graciosa.
A central point was the need to strengthen the management capacity of the Municipal Technical Office, particularly in processing urban planning files. The mayor emphasized the importance of the regional executive's backing to expedite administrative procedures and improve response times for citizens.
Fernando Clavijo expressed his commitment to collaborating with the Teguise City Council to boost the Municipal Technical Office, exploring support mechanisms to expedite file processing and meet service needs. Representatives from the areas of Coasts, Emergencies, and Water from both administrations also participated.
The economic viability of sanitation projects in Los Cocoteros and Caleta de Caballo was also analyzed, along with coastline issues such as the status of the lagoon in Los Cocoteros and La Caleta de Famara, beach amenities, signage installation, and the proposal for a dog-friendly beach.
Additionally, actions related to incorporating shaded areas on the Costa Teguise avenue, under the "Miradas al Mar" proposal, and the feasibility study for new walkways to improve accessibility at Famara beach and near Las Cucharas beach were discussed.
Other needs addressed included the situation of the niches in La Graciosa and the ambulance service in La Caleta de Famara.
Olivia Duque highlighted that improving the response capacity of the Municipal Technical Office is a priority, stating, "behind every file are residents, families, and professionals who need their procedures to move forward." She stressed the importance of direct communication with the Government of the Canary Islands to ensure continuity on issues affecting the towns, public services, and infrastructure.
Fernando Clavijo noted that "municipalities are the closest administration to citizens and need adequate resources and tools to meet their demands effectively and promptly." He reiterated the Government of the Canary Islands' willingness to collaborate with the Teguise City Council to enhance its Municipal Technical Office's operations and streamline administrative procedures.
The meeting concluded by outlining matters requiring technical and administrative follow-up regarding the Municipal Technical Office, sanitation, accessibility, and coastline management, to determine the appropriate alternatives and procedures.
