Artenara Modernizes Municipal Pool with Pellet Boiler and Accessibility Upgrades

The municipal swimming pool in Artenara, located in the town center, is undergoing a significant renovation that includes the installation of a pellet boiler to heat the water and the adaptation of its changing rooms to accessibility regulations.

The works, with a budget of 112,400 euros and a four-month execution period, could delay the facility's public opening during the summer season. These improvements address the need to update facilities that had not been renovated for a long time and showed significant deterioration in their electrical and plumbing systems.
One of the main novelties is the incorporation of a heating boiler powered by pellets, which will be manufactured by the Town Council itself. This system will allow the pool water to be heated, making its use more comfortable for swimmers and promoting the use of renewable energies. The boiler will include all necessary equipment, such as a textile silo for storage, an auger for feeding, a heat exchanger, and circulation pumps.
The works, carried out by the company Juan Francisco Rodríguez González, also include the complete renovation of the changing rooms' electrical installation, which did not comply with regulations for wet areas, as well as the plumbing channels and carpentry. Furthermore, the layout of the changing rooms will be modified to create an adapted toilet for people with reduced mobility, equipped with an accessible sink, shower, and toilets, and an adjoining boiler room will be built.
The need for these reforms was highlighted by a Health inspector, who warned about the risk that electrical deficiencies posed to users and the possibility of closure if they were not brought up to standard. To ensure accessibility throughout the municipal complex, a crane or stairlift will be installed to facilitate access to the recreational pool.
The Artenara pool, located in Manuel Díaz Cruz Park, is one of the most popular summer leisure options in the municipality. The facility covers approximately 1,800 square meters and features two pools, changing rooms, a room for authorized personnel, a solarium area, a machine room, an artificial grass and glass-enclosed paddle tennis court, and a bar-cafeteria. It also has an exclusive area for the lifeguard, where the general electrical panel and first aid kit are located.
