This conference, which has become a national benchmark in the fields of culture, heritage, and education, will be held at the Casa de la Memoria, located at Alfonso XIII Street, 20, in La Aldea de San Nicolás. Registration remains open until May 6.
The program of activities is diverse, including round tables, talks, performances, workshops, concerts, and an ethnocultural route to conclude the event. The inaugural day will feature presentations on lithophones from the province of Las Palmas, the didactics of Canarian linguistic and cultural heritage in classrooms, and Canarian culture and identities in the islands' schools. It will also include a visit to living museums and a performance of the Memorial to Rosarito Molina.
On Saturday, discussions will focus on topics such as spells in the island landscapes, chordophones in the territories of the ancient Crown of Aragon, and orchilla extraction in Canarias. In the afternoon, workshops on lithophones and traditional dances will be offered. The evening will culminate with a traditional music performance by the community project in front of the church. On Sunday, an ethnocultural visit focusing on death in traditional society is planned.
These conferences are made possible by the participation and funding from the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Government of Canarias and the La Aldea City Council, as well as the collaboration of the Cabildo, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the University of La Laguna, and the General Directorate of Educational Innovation of the Government of Canarias.
