The Canarias Game Show arrives in Fuerteventura on June 27th and 28th, with the aim of detecting talent, fostering innovation, and generating opportunities within the video game industry. The event will be held at the municipal sports pavilion in Morro Jable, a result of the collaboration between the Government of the Canary Islands, the Department of New Technologies of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and the City Council of Pájara.
The island's Minister of New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, highlighted that the video game sector represents an opportunity for economic growth and skilled employment. Therefore, she emphasized the importance of events like this to boost the industry in the islands, offering training, competitions, and unique experiences for all ages.
Attendees will have access to a large free play area equipped with the latest generation technology, including high-performance Gaming PCs, consoles such as Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and other interactive entertainment devices. Popular titles like FC 26, Tekken 8, Fortnite, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Mario Kart World will be available.
The event also features activities that combine fun and physical activity, such as Taiko no Tatsujin, Samba de Amigo, Just Dance, Mario Tennis, and a virtual reality zone to experience the latest immersive technology innovations.
For competitive gamers, the Canarias Game Show will host official Trading Card Games (TCG) tournaments such as Pokémon, Riftbound, and One Piece Card Game. In video games, competitions will include Tekken 8, Super Smash Bros, and Ultimate FC 26, with participation from initiatives linked to CD Tenerife and the UD Las Palmas Disafío project. All video game competitions will be broadcast live on the official Twitch channels of Liga Canaria.
Furthermore, the event will foster technological innovation through Developer Workshops (Game Jam). Multidisciplinary teams of young people will collaborate to develop video game prototypes and technological projects within a limited time, promoting talent, creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurship.
