The investigation began following a complaint filed by the company itself and concluded with the employee's arrest on July 17. The company confirmed the material shortage after conducting an inventory commissioned to an external firm, which detected a significant discrepancy between the theoretical and actual stock in the warehouse.
The irregularities came to light when an administrative manager, temporarily transferred from another island to cover a sick leave, reviewed the computer records and physical inventory. She observed that the system information did not match the products available for sale.
According to the investigation, the employee allegedly took advantage of the trust placed in him to sell material at prices significantly lower than the official ones, collecting the transactions in cash. To allegedly conceal these operations, he is said to have falsified guarantees, invoices, and delivery notes.
Agents from the Civil Guard in Gran Tarajal reviewed security camera footage, financial documentation, and instant messaging conversations, in addition to interviewing several company clients. The investigation culminated in the worker's arrest, who was handed over to the judicial authorities in Puerto del Rosario.
