The Mayor of Alajeró, Manuel Ramón Plasencia, has expressed his satisfaction with the Spanish Government's announcement of implementing a Public Service Obligation (OSP) that will connect the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma.

Manuel Ramón Plasencia, Mayor of Alajeró, has expressed his congratulations following the Spanish Government's announcement regarding the creation of a Public Service Obligation (OSP) aimed at improving air connectivity between the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro, and La Palma. This measure addresses a long-standing demand from Gomeran citizens and institutions.
Plasencia believes that the airline currently operating the connection between La Gomera and Tenerife, as well as Gran Canaria, should consider advancing the schedule for the flight linking the La Gomera airport with Los Rodeos. Currently, this flight departs at half-past ten in the morning, which hinders operational efficiency for users.
The Mayor recalled that a growing number of passengers use this air route, particularly for personal and medical appointments at reference hospitals. "The fact that the flight departs almost mid-morning from Alajeró to the Tenerife aerodrome does not facilitate an effective and operational connection at all, forcing patients or the sick to travel the day before to arrive on time for their appointments or early in the morning on the same day," he stated.
The councilor thanked the State Government for the decision to enable the connection with La Palma and El Hierro. However, he reiterated that Gomeran citizens would greatly appreciate it if the flight between Tenerife and La Gomera were scheduled for early in the morning, which would represent a significant improvement in service and operational efficiency.
