The Socialist Municipal Group of San Sebastián de La Gomera will present a motion to create a local energy community based on photovoltaic solar energy, seeking real savings on residents' electricity bills.

The PSOE has proposed the creation of an energy community in San Sebastián de La Gomera as a sustainable method to reduce electricity costs for the municipality's residents. Socialist spokesperson Ventura del Carmen Rodríguez Herrera emphasized that implementing this model should result in a tangible discount on bills, representing "real savings" for the citizens.
The initiative plans to capitalize on the municipality's favorable solar conditions. Clean energy generation would occur from key public buildings, enabling a reduction in the municipal electricity bill, promoting shared self-consumption, and facilitating access to more affordable renewable energy for residents and small businesses.
This project, considered pioneering on the island, is expected not only to generate economic savings and create local jobs in the renewable energy sector but also to strengthen the fight against climate change.

"San Sebastián de La Gomera has the opportunity to lead the energy transition on the island. Betting on an energy community is betting on savings, sustainability, and the energy sovereignty of our municipality."

Ventura del Carmen Rodríguez Herrera · Spokesperson for the Socialist Municipal Group
The motion includes conducting a municipal energy audit, developing a Photovoltaic Implementation Master Plan, seeking public funding, and establishing citizen participation forums to ensure transparency and social involvement in the project.
