The Cabildo of La Gomera, through its Social Policy department, participated in the V Health Fair of San Sebastián de La Gomera, an event organized by the City Council for health prevention and promotion on the island.

During the fair, the island institution showcased its wide range of social services and public resources available to vulnerable families and groups on the island. This initiative aims to bring the administration closer to citizens and ensure access to essential benefits.

"Our presence at this fifth edition of the Health Fair responds to the need to humanize social services and make them fully accessible. We want every resident to know that they have a professional team ready to support them, whether in the field of mental health, women's care, or the care of our elderly through telecare."

The island's Social Policy councilor emphasized that health encompasses comprehensive well-being requiring a solid support network. Therefore, services such as the Day Center for Functional Diversity and the Women's Care team were actively present, highlighting the fundamental role of social policy in building a more resilient and cohesive society.
The day featured dynamic and technical programming at the Island Services Tent, designed to encourage active citizen participation in their own care. Among the most innovative proposals was a workshop by the Island Addiction Unit, which used virtual reality technology to raise awareness among young people about the risks of substance use.
In parallel, the Island Childhood and Family Service enlivened the day with active recreation proposals, while the Mental Health and Promotion of Personal Autonomy areas focused their efforts on cognitive, sensory, and social awareness activities. Additionally, information points were maintained to answer questions about available procedures and benefits, and the Island Telecare Service, in coordination with Cruz Roja, disseminated information about this essential resource.
