The Agüimes City Council will submit for vote the definitive approval of a modification to the General Urban Planning Plan, aiming to adapt urban regulations to allow greater flexibility for commercial and professional activities in residential neighborhoods.

This measure, to be debated in the municipal plenary, does not intend to alter the territorial model or the residential character of the areas. Instead, it seeks to introduce changes that facilitate the opening of small businesses, shops, and professional offices in already consolidated urban land. The primary objective is to foster local economic activity in developed areas, responding to the growing demand for nearby services and new work modalities, such as teleworking.

"The current planning had become «rigid» in this area, so this modification aims to revitalize neighborhoods, improve citizens' daily lives, and reduce the need for travel, opting for a more functional and sustainable model."

The proposal aims to revitalize neighborhoods, enhance the quality of life for citizens by reducing the need for extensive travel, and promote a more functional and sustainable development model. The agreement to be voted on represents the final phase of the administrative procedure, following its initial approval in October 2024 and a period of public information. During this process, an allegation was submitted, which has been analyzed, and its incorporation into the final document is proposed.
