This substantial increase in visitor numbers highlights the growing appeal of the municipality. Over 35% of tourists came from the Iberian Peninsula, while the remainder arrived from various European nations such as Germany, France, and the Nordic countries. The latter experienced an impressive 135% growth compared to 2024.
The average monthly attendance at the office was 1,124 people, with January, February, March, and October recording the highest figures. Peninsular visitors constituted the largest group with 4,768, while Canary Island residents accounted for almost 9% of the total, with 1,193 visits.
Regarding foreign tourists, the majority (34%) originated from Germany, Austria, France, and the Nordic countries (Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland). The influx of Nordic visitors more than doubled, rising from 476 in 2024 to 1,119 in 2025.
These figures considerably surpassed those of 2024, when the office received 11,593 people. In that year, most visitors were from the Iberian Peninsula (39%), Germany and Austria (14.33%), and France (14.2%), with Canary Island residents making up almost 8% (923). The average monthly visitor count in 2024 was 966, with February and October being the busiest months.
These data reflect only those who visited the office seeking information about Agüimes' tourist offerings, including its protected natural areas, beaches, and historic quarter, as well as its cultural and gastronomic proposals. However, the total number of visitors to the municipality is considerably higher, as evidenced by the attendance at the San Sebastián church, which exceeded 29,000 visits in 2025.
During the first months of 2026, the pace of visitor arrivals at the tourist office remains high, with an average of 1,279 people until March. Nevertheless, the absolute monthly figures have been slightly lower than the previous year. In January 2026, the office received 1,108 tourists (364 fewer than in 2025), and in February, a decrease of 307 was recorded, totaling 1,401. The trend slightly corrected in March, with 1,330 visitors, 58 more than in 2024.
