The weekend in El Carrizal, municipality of Ingenio, was marked by festivities honoring Nuestra Señora del Buen Suceso, San Roque, and San Haragán 2026. The celebrations stood out for their tradition, high citizen participation, and a comprehensive cultural and festive agenda.
On Friday, the traditional offering procession took place, featuring 16 carts, folklore groups, and parrandas. The route, starting from Camelot park, passed through streets like República Argentina and Núñez de Balboa to the Buen Suceso square, where the offering to the patron saint was made. Tenor Jesús Monzón performed the Ave Maria after the Virgin's throne departed, and the charanga band La Ingeniosa also participated in the parade.
The municipal delegation was led by the cart of the Ingenio City Council, attended by the mayor, Vanesa Martín, and a significant representation of the local Corporation. They were followed by various neighborhood associations, business groups, cultural and sports collectives, as well as the murgas (musical groups) Los Legañosos and Los Legañositos, among others.
The day continued in the square with the second Pepín Viera String Dance, led by the parranda band El Viejo Cafetín. The night concluded in the marquee at Buen Suceso park with performances by Armonía Show, Paco Guedes, and La Combinación, along with a fireworks display.
Saturday, the main day of the festivities, began with the traditional Diana Floreada (dawn serenade) at six in the morning, accompanied by the Banda Guiniguada. The morning also featured the artisan and agri-food market on Sor Josefa Morales street and the livestock fair and exhibition at the Guayadeque Fairgrounds, which saw high participation from farmers.
The Solemn Holy Mass, presided over by Father Agustín Sánchez, was held at eleven in the morning, followed by the livestock parade before the patron saint and the procession, accompanied by the Sociedad Musical Villa de Ingenio. The program included a popular toast, the 'verbena del solajero' (daytime festival) with Los del Son, and in the evening, the XXXI Zonal Festival Virgen del Buen Suceso by A.F.C. Guayadeque, concluding the day with performances by DJ Ulises Acosta and the Grupo Acuarela.
On Sunday, the feast day of San Roque, the Solemn Holy Mass was celebrated in the afternoon, followed by the procession and the traditional distribution of San Roque's Bread. The festive events concluded with a concert by El Vega in the Buen Suceso park.
The Ingenio City Council positively assessed the celebration. The Councilor for the Primary Sector, Catalina Sánchez, highlighted the high participation in the livestock fair. The Councilor for Festivities and Security, Rayco Padilla, emphasized attendance at the offering procession. The parish priest, Father Jesús Vega Mesa, underscored the solidarity of the festivities, and the president of the Virgen's Bicentennial Board, Pimpina Herrera, thanked the collaboration of collectives and residents.
