The municipal resolution establishes a maximum period of four days for the voluntary abandonment of the buildings, which expired last Friday. If not complied with, administrative eviction will proceed, followed by sealing and boarding up of the properties. The measure affects the former schools and teacher housing, which are municipal property.
The decision is based on a report from August 2023 by the municipal architect, which warned of the advanced deterioration and the impossibility of guaranteeing safety against potential collapses or falling debris. The technician recommended immediate evacuation, sealing, and intervention by Social Services.
After reactivating the file in April of this year, reports from Infrastructure confirmed the need for action. A report from the Local Police dated June 11 confirmed the occupation of the properties, identifying residents in number 9 and noting the presence in numbers 11 and 11-A.
Social Services have assisted 10 individuals, with no minors among them, and have recommended seeking housing alternatives for cases of social emergency. A recent police report from July 5 confirmed the presence of nine people at the location.
The City Council argues that the occupants lack legal title to remain in the municipally owned properties. Once the deadline has passed, a request will be made to the duty court in San Bartolomé de Tirajana for judicial entry authorization to regain possession and proceed with sealing and boarding up the access points to prevent further occupations.
