Iñaki Gil and Alba García Win Civil Guard Charity Race in Vecindario

Over 500 runners participated in the first edition of the solidarity event benefiting the Pequeño Valiente association.

Iñaki Gil and Alba García took victory in the 1st Civil Guard Charity Race, held in Vecindario, bringing together over five hundred participants for a day of solidarity.

The town of Santa Lucía de Tirajana hosted this Saturday the first edition of the Civil Guard Charity Race, aimed at raising funds for the Pequeño Valiente association. The sporting event gathered more than 500 people, including minors and adults, for a day marked by solidarity and a festive atmosphere.
The competition kicked off at 5:00 PM with the children's 'Kids' race, followed half an hour later by the main event. The one-mile (1,609 meters) course ran along Avenida de Canarias, with the finish line on the main avenue and the start near the Plaza de Los Algodoneros, which served as the festival's hub.
In the men's category, Iñaki Gil was the winner with a time of 5 minutes and 11 seconds. He was followed by Denis Raskauskas (5:41) and Pedro Sancho (5:46). For the women, Alba García achieved victory with 5:49, also securing fourth place in the overall combined standings. The next to cross the finish line were Olga Martynenkova (6:42) and Carmen González (6:44).
The organization, managed by the Civil Guard Command of Las Palmas and the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council, also recognized the participation of the most veteran Civil Guard officers, Francisco Pérez and Ana Sánchez.
In parallel, an exhibition on the Civil Guard's resources and specialties was offered, bringing the corps' work closer to attendees. The day also included a sports fashion show as part of the Sports Fair.

The awards ceremony was attended by various authorities, including the Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez; the mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco José García; the chief colonel of the Civil Guard Command, Javier Peña; the Councilor for Sports, Julio Ojeda; the president of Pequeño Valiente, José Juan Jerez; and the president of Habecu, José Tinoco.
