The Ingenio City Council has intensified its campaign to remove abandoned vehicles, taking away more than twenty cars in a single day in the vicinity of the El Carrizal commercial area.

The municipal initiative aims to reclaim public space, enhance security, and improve the urban image of the municipality, focusing on areas such as the land next to the Carrizal Civic Center and the Carlos V Bis zone, where vehicles occupied parking spots and caused sanitation problems.
The mayor of Ingenio, Vanesa Martín, highlighted the continuity of this work, noting that Friday's operation exemplifies progress in removing vehicles from the streets. Meanwhile, the Councilor for Security, Rayco Padilla, emphasized that reclaiming public spaces is a priority for the governing group, enabling the recovery of parking in commercial zones and improving citizens' quality of life.
Since June 2025, the campaign has successfully removed approximately 240 abandoned vehicles. The council offers a free procedure for owners to permanently deregister disused vehicles, coordinating their removal and transport to an Authorized Treatment Center at no cost.
The City Council reminds the public that abandoned vehicles can be classified as urban solid waste, leading to fines that can reach 2,000 euros for minor offenses and up to 100,000 euros if there is a risk to the environment, safety, or public health. Furthermore, owners will be responsible for the costs of removal and storage, as well as potential penalties for lacking mandatory insurance.
