The incident occurred last Tuesday afternoon, around 7:30 PM, at an establishment located on Carlos V Avenue, one of the main commercial arteries of this area. The assailants arrived in a rental car that had been previously reported stolen in Puerto Rico.
After committing the robbery, the criminals abandoned the vehicle on Florida Avenue and continued their escape in another car, suggesting a pre-planned operation. This modus operandi, which includes the use of a stolen vehicle and a subsequent change for the getaway, points to an organized action.
According to the affected owners of Horacio jewelry store, everything happened within minutes. The robbers entered and, without a word, began smashing display cases with a hammer to steal a significant amount of jewelry. The store owner managed to struggle with one of the assailants, who was carrying an axe, preventing an even larger haul.
Officers from the Guardia Civil and the Local Police of Ingenio responded to the scene and have launched an investigation to identify and locate the alleged perpetrators of the assault. Although specific details about the value of the loot have not been disclosed, the stolen material is estimated to be substantial. Local merchants have expressed their concern about the increasing insecurity in the municipality of Ingenio.
