The Lidl supermarket in Cruce de Arinaga reopened its doors this Friday after a comprehensive renovation involving an investment of 3.5 million euros, gaining 400 m2 of surface area and updating its image.

The establishment, located at Calle del Torno 72, opposite the Urbanización La Paz, generated significant customer anticipation from early morning. The renovation included updating the parking facilities and expanding the product offering.
The inaugural event was attended by the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández, the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Cati Suárez, and company representatives. This new store marks a significant update to the chain's presence in the municipality, which first opened in Agüimes in 2010 with approximately 1,000 m2. The renovated center now boasts nearly 1,400 m2.
Company officials expressed their satisfaction with the "extraordinary welcome" and the "very positive response" from residents. The new store features Lidl's updated corporate image across Europe, characterized by more spacious, brighter, and modern environments, making it the first store in the Canary Islands to adopt this concept. The company also highlighted the strategic importance of the chosen location, situated in an area with significant influence, combining residential population and tourist activity, which bolsters the company's growth expectations in the southeast of Gran Canaria.
For his part, Mayor Óscar Hernández expressed his satisfaction, emphasizing that the opening improves services for citizens and avoids the need for travel to other towns. He wished the company the greatest success, noting the large public turnout from the start of the day and the positive impact the opening will have on the area's economic and commercial activity.
