The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana has responded to complaints filed by the opposition, defending the legality of his decisions and accusing the PP-AV of political opportunism.

The head of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana municipality has addressed accusations made by the opposition group, which has taken the situation of six councilors expelled from their original party to the Prosecutor's Office and the administrative contentious jurisdiction. The mayor expressed his "absolute tranquility" regarding these actions, stating his confidence in both justice and politics.

"There are those who are more concerned with political opportunism than with the real problems of the municipality."

The municipal official linked the complaints to a strategy of confrontation, criticizing the opposition for resorting to the courts when they fail to impose their arguments in plenary debates. He recalled that such actions are not new, mentioning previous complaints against the former mayor and a case related to the Municipal Athenaeum which, according to him, "came to nothing."
Furthermore, the mayor defended his obligation to present the full dossier on the situation of the affected councilors to the Plenary, referring to contradictory reports on their status as non-attached members. He contrasted his government agenda, focused on municipal management and participation in institutional events, with what he called "political noise" from the opposition.
The opposition's complaints suggest that the mayor deliberately hindered the Municipal Plenary from formally recognizing the 'non-attached' status of the councilors, which, according to the complainants, would have allowed them to retain their remunerations and political attributions.
