The works, fully financed by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through the Cooperation Program with Municipalities (PCA) with 189,585.14 euros, aim to modernize the outdoor lighting network and improve its energy efficiency, as well as lighting and safety conditions in public roads and spaces.
The project, titled "LED Replacement of Public Lighting in Barrio del Cristo and others" (26.PCA.07.03), addresses the need to renew existing luminaires. The granted funding amounts to 189,585.14 euros, while the awarded cost for the works was 139,529.77 euros.
The action focuses on the streets and parks of Barrio del Cristo and the El Ejido area, where gas discharge lamps (sodium vapor) were previously used. These installations are being replaced by LED luminaires, which will enhance energy efficiency and safety for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
The new LED luminaires incorporate advanced technology for urban lighting, offering high luminous flux, neutral white color temperature for greater visual comfort and better color rendering, all with minimal energy consumption.
The project also includes the installation of a point-to-point control system (remote management system) to individually monitor, control, and manage each lighting point in the network.
