The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy of the SCS reminds the public of the importance of donation to treat cancer patients, leukemia, hemorrhagic processes, burns, surgical interventions, and childbirths.
In addition to the mobile unit, there are fixed donation points in Gran Canaria. The main center is located at Alfonso XIII street, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, open Monday to Friday from 9:15 AM to 8:30 PM. This location has a donor access ramp.
The fixed point in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, located in the annex of the Vecindario Health Center, operates from Monday to Wednesday from 5:15 PM to 8:15 PM and on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:15 AM to 1:15 PM.
Other points within the hospital network include the Insular Hospital (Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM), the Maternal and Child Hospital (Monday to Friday, 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM), and the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM). At Hospiten Roca San Agustín, donations can be made on Fridays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, by appointment.
The basic requirements to donate blood are to be between eighteen and 65 years old (up to sixty for a first-time donation), weigh over fifty kilograms, be in generally good health, and not be pregnant.
