The Canary Islands Electric Vehicle Show, Movelec, will open its doors on April 18 and 19 at the Agüimes Exhibition Center to bring electric mobility closer to the public and professionals.

This event, celebrating its ninth edition, is consolidating as a key meeting point for the industry and the public interested in sustainability. Over two days, attendees will be able to explore the latest technological innovations, establish business contacts, and learn about the current offerings from companies in the sector.

"Gran Canaria today leads electric mobility in the Canary Islands; 57% of electric vehicle sales in the archipelago occur on our island, and that is certainly no coincidence."

Raúl García Brink · Councillor for Environment, Climate, Energy and Knowledge
Councillor Raúl García Brink highlighted Gran Canaria's leadership in regional electric mobility, attributing it to the clear commitment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to energy transition. He emphasized the deployment of an island-wide network of charging points and the strong push for transport electrification as key factors.

"Movelec stands as the ideal space to convey to society the latest developments in electric mobility, environmental and energy-saving advantages, as well as acquisition aid, and to send the message to citizens to defend a CO2-free eco-island."

Minerva Alonso · Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts
Councillor Minerva Alonso stressed that Movelec is an essential platform to inform about the benefits of electric mobility, available aid, and to promote the concept of a “CO2-free eco-island.” The show will feature participation from 100% electric vehicle companies, distributors, specialized workshops, renewable energy installers and charging solutions, as well as associations and institutions.
As a new feature, this edition will include six free-access driving simulators and free efficient electric vehicle driving courses. These courses, offered multiple times daily, will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about optimizing battery charging, regenerative braking, and driving modes, complemented by practical sessions supervised by specialized instructors. Registration for the courses will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition to the exhibitions, Movelec will offer a program of talks and roundtables with experts who will address topics such as the evolution of charging in Spain, energy communities, taxi electrification, and the current challenges of electric mobility in the Canary Islands. The event is promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, organized by Infecar, and sponsored by the Insular Energy Council with collaboration from the Agüimes City Council, Cajasiete, and the Association of Electric Vehicle Users (AUVE).
