The incident began shortly before 10:00 PM when a Local Police patrol, conducting routine public safety duties, noticed a vehicle behaving suspiciously. After observing a traffic violation, specifically crossing a continuous line, officers attempted to pull the vehicle over.
Instead of stopping, the driver fled at high speed through several streets of the industrial estate. During the chase, he performed dangerous maneuvers, such as swerving, significantly increasing the risk to other road users. The pursuit concluded on Vinca Street, where the individual lost control of his vehicle, causing a collision.
The accident involved three vehicles. A van that was driving correctly suffered a direct impact, and one of its occupants sustained minor injuries, receiving attention from the Canarian Emergency Service. Additionally, two other parked cars were severely damaged and declared total losses. Despite the spectacular nature of the accident, no further personal injuries were reported. Several people leaving a nearby gym managed to avoid direct involvement in the incident.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, originally from Senegal and residing in Vecindario, was arrested at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he did not possess a driving license and had been arrested for similar offenses approximately three months prior. He also has a previous criminal record, including at least one prison sentence.
A second Local Police patrol participated in the operation, responsible for drafting the corresponding reports. Agents from the Civil Guard, belonging to the Agüimes Main Post, also collaborated in the intervention.
