Cyclist Rescued by Helicopter After Falling Down Ravine in Agüimes

The 50-year-old man sustained multiple severe injuries and was airlifted in critical condition to Gran Canaria Insular Hospital.

A 50-year-old cyclist was rescued by helicopter this Sunday after falling down a ravine while riding on the GC-550 road in Agüimes, Gran Canaria.

The incident occurred as the man was traveling along the aforementioned road. Following the fall, the cyclist suffered various severe injuries.
The Emergency and Safety Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 reported that after receiving initial medical assistance at the scene, the injured man was evacuated in critical condition to the Gran Canaria Insular University Hospital.
Rescuers from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) accessed the accident site, collaborated with medical personnel, and proceeded to hoist the cyclist into the medicalized aircraft of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) for transport.
Local Police and Firefighters secured the landing area for both aircraft, while the Civil Guard took charge of the relevant proceedings.
The emergency alert was received by 112 at 10:57 AM this Sunday.
