The Las Palmas Civil Guard Command has presented the first edition of its charity race, which will take place on May 16 in Vecindario, with the aim of raising funds for the Canarian Pequeño Valiente Foundation.

This initiative combines sport, solidarity, and community engagement, dedicating all proceeds to the foundation that assists children with cancer and their families. The race will start at 5:00 PM from the Plaza de los Algodoneros and will run along Avenida de Canarias.

"It seemed like a very noble goal to be able to contribute to such an important cause as assisting children with cancer and their families."

The race format is accessible, including one-mile and half-mile modalities, designed for participants of all ages. Registration costs 12 euros for adults and 6 euros for minors, and includes a commemorative t-shirt.

"Events like this are fundamental to maintain our services and continue to be by the side of families in hospitals."

In addition to the sporting competition, the day will feature an exhibition of Civil Guard resources, with units such as Traffic, Seprona, GEAS, and the Canine Service participating, bringing their daily work closer to the public. The organization, which collaborates with the Santa Lucía City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and the Civil Guard Foundation, expects high participation and aims to consolidate the event in future editions.
