The event, organized in collaboration with the Ingenio City Council, gathered entrepreneurs and the general public interested in the impact of SMEs in rural areas. This seminar is part of the project “Business and Local Development: Knowledge Management (1st edition),” which aims to build bridges between university research and the local business fabric.
The initiative is financially supported by the Vice-presidency and Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, Architecture and Housing of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. Its main objectives are to bring academic research closer to rural SMEs and to stimulate the creation of scientific knowledge focused on sustainable development and small and medium-sized enterprises.
“"Bringing university research closer to rural SMEs and fostering the generation of scientific knowledge focused on SMEs and sustainable development are the pillars of this project."
Among the most significant outcomes of the project are the organization of three conferences, including the one in Ingenio and two others in Arucas and Gáldar, totaling twelve presentations. Additionally, a research seminar and two round tables were held. In the academic field, the project has promoted the initiation of a doctoral thesis, a final degree project, and the development of two research papers.
