The Ingenio sports center will commence an expansion and improvement project in May, transforming its facilities into a more modern and safer space for users.

This initiative represents a significant advancement in the sports offerings and service quality for the community. The enhancements include a 672 square meter weight room, marking a 60.38% increase from the current one, and the creation of a third activity room to meet existing demand. Additionally, a children's play area will be incorporated, and the air conditioning system will be optimized.
Among the most notable additions is the development of a leisure area on the building's rooftop, intended for the El Cristo neighborhood. This space will feature courts for futsal and 3x3 basketball, a calisthenics park, and a children's playground, aiming to revitalize the area and expand recreational options. The new area will also house offices for the Sports Department, changing rooms with showers and lockers, and the installation of an elevator to enhance accessibility.
During the construction period, the Manuel Ángel Estupiñán municipal swimming pool will operate as usual. However, guided activities will be restructured, with some continuing at the sports center with modifications and others relocating to the Chano Melián pavilion. The weight room and activity room 2 will be temporarily inoperative due to the technical complexity of integrating new infrastructure.
The weight room will be unavailable from May 1st until the completion of the works, estimated to be about one year, to ensure safety and service quality, as well as compliance with the contract with the construction company. Users who have paid their monthly fees from that date can choose to keep their membership until reopening or request a refund, processing the request through the electronic headquarters.
The Sports Department has expressed gratitude for the public's understanding regarding any potential inconveniences, emphasizing that this investment will lead to a substantial improvement in services, consolidating more complete, accessible, and adapted facilities to current needs.
