The State Meteorological Agency has issued a forecast of cloudy skies and strong winds for the Canary Islands this Thursday, marking a period of instability before an upcoming heat episode.

The archipelago will experience overcast skies throughout the day with a high probability of light rainfall. Winds will blow from the north with moderate intensity, with strong intervals and even very intense gusts recorded in various parts of the islands. At sea, swell is expected with waves of up to two meters.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather trend will remain similar in the north of the mountainous islands, where cloud cover and the possibility of occasional rain will persist. Temperatures, for the time being, will not undergo significant variations across the islands, maintaining a cool environment for this time of year.
However, meteorological models point to a change in trend starting next week. The arrival of a subtropical ridge over the national territory will lead to a progressive rise in temperatures, resulting in the first significant heat episode of 2026, with highs that could exceed 25 degrees in various parts of the archipelago.
