The awards ceremony, held at the Juan Ramón Jiménez Theater in Telde, brought together hundreds of students and teachers from the 84 educational centers on the island that participated in this consolidated educational innovation initiative. The festival, now in its thirteenth year, has proven to be a benchmark in introducing audiovisual language into classrooms.
The short film The Silence of the Forgotten from IES Faro de Maspalomas triumphed over productions such as '3:17' from IES Támara (second prize) and 'Dos clases y un destino' from CEIP Agustín Hernández Díaz (third prize). A special mention was awarded to 'Lo que no puedo decir' from IES Pablo Montesino for its work in highlighting the lack of empathy among teenagers.
The ceremony, hosted by actress Guacimara Correa, also recognized technical and acting awards. Ainhoa López (Superior School of Art and Design of Gran Canaria) won Best Direction for Despierta; Itxazo Pumarejo (CEO Tunte) for Best Screenplay with La chica del piano; Samara Medina (IES Pérez Galdós) as Best Actress for Mamá, quiero ser artista; and Érik Gutiérrez (CEO Luján Pérez) as Best Actor for Peperachi.
Other awards included Best Cinematography for 'El eco del Almogarén' from CEIP Príncipe de Asturias, and Best Sound for 'La Juyona' from IES Santiago Santana Díaz.
Throughout its 13-year history, Cinedfest has involved 339 centers, 783 teachers, and has trained over 4,000 students in audiovisual education, establishing itself as a key project for bringing cinema and audiovisual language into education.
