The Canary Islands face a heatwave this Sunday, July 5, which will particularly affect inland areas, midlands, and regions facing south and west.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has indicated that temperatures could reach 35 degrees in the midlands and high areas of the southwest of Gran Canaria, as well as in parts of the interior of southern Fuerteventura. In the rest of the islands, temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees in wide inland areas.
The weather conditions will be accompanied by light calima at altitude, which will initially affect the eastern islands and spread during the afternoon towards Tenerife and La Gomera. Skies will be mostly clear, with cloudy intervals in the low northern areas during the early and late hours of the day.
Regarding the wind, a moderate northern component will prevail, with stronger intervals during the night on the east and west coasts of the mountainous islands, as well as in the Jandía area. Sea conditions will show slight swell, with the possibility of increasing to moderate swell in areas of the southeast and southwest.
